Early Head Start (EHS)
Family Child Care Provider Homes
(With state and local funding shortfalls - additional funding is needed for these programs)
Early Care and education is an important building block for a child’s future, and all families deserve access to affordable care for their children. Without early care and education resources, families, especially single parents, cannot meet the demands of work and the needs of their children. In addition to enabling parents to work, these programs provide an important foundation for a child’s education, which they may not otherwise receive.
Marcy-Newberry Association’s EHS program provides child care for infants and toddlers between the ages of 0 and 3 years, in licensed day care homes. We service children Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (The sites are closed on Holidays observed by the agency.) The EHS program began in February of 1999. The program was designed to assist parents who work or attend school. This program helps bridge the gap created by the Welfare Reform Act by enabling parents to afford the cost of child care. Each parent pays a co-payment which is derived from a sliding scale, based on the parent’s income, number of persons in the family, and the number of children in the program.
Marcy-Newberry’s EHS program has twenty-five (25) funded slots. Currently, we have active, licensed home day care providers and additional providers awaiting slots.
The EHS program is a great program which empowers parents to reach their fullest potential, which helps to create positive role models in our community. Our program provides children with a safe, nourishing and educational place to stay, while their parents go to work and/or attend school.
